Her 27 years of experience in schools spans urban, suburban, and rural district settings in Wisconsin and includes serving as an instructional coach, reading specialist, library media specialist, technology integrator, adjunct literacy instructor, and English teacher. Kim completed a bachelor’s degree in English Education and also earned a Masters in Social Justice Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at UW-Madison, including administrator and curriculum director certifications. Kim recently completed a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis with a focus on literacy and equity. Her passions include partnering with educators to incorporate resources and create learning experiences in which ALL students see themselves, lifting up students’ voices through authentic creation, and designing opportunities to critically read “texts” and examine multiple perspectives. She also zealously pursues opportunities to work with educators embarking on their equity journeys, facilitating learning related to culturally responsive pedagogy, and multicultural and social justice education, always relying on the work of scholars of color whose recommendations are also informed by their lived experiences.
