CLASS Program Coordinator/ K-9, ESL & Spanish Instructor Email Phone: 920.723.3649 Kaycee Rogers is a lifelong teacher, learner, and lover of language. After graduating from Luther College as an Elementary Education major with certifications in ESL, Spanish, and reading. She began her career teaching 3rd and 4th grade in Colombia. She also briefly taught Spanish Immersion in Minnesota, 7th grade Spanish, and K-8 ESL in Menomonie, WI. She found her “educational home” as a Middle School ESL teacher in Eau Claire, where she was part of a great team of language educators, and taught students from more than a dozen home language
backgrounds. After mentoring several stellar student teachers, Kaycee pursued a Master’s degree in Professional Development from UW La Crosse. From there, she moved into teacher education in higher education.
As the Director of Education for Augsburg University’s satellite campus in Rochester, MN, Kaycee taught, advised, and supervised students pursuing teacher certification in Special Education, Elementary Education, and ESL. Later, she moved on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she served as the ESL Program Coordinator for the Secondary Education dual-certification masters program.
Now, Kaycee serves as the CLASS program coordinator here at CESA 2, continuing to work with teachers pursuing teacher licensure across the state of Wisconsin. She is also the CLASS instructor for the K-9, ESL, and Spanish licensure programs. Kaycee is in the process of completing her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at UW-Madison, studying rural education, teacher education, and ESL. She is specifically interested in the identity, agency, and positionality of rural ESL teachers and how they could be better supported by schools and communities to do the important work of teaching rural multilingual learners.
